Kessler, Ian (1993) Spotlight on rewards tied to performance. Times Higher Educational Supplement.Full text not available from this repository.
Performance related pay is being introduced into both the public and private sector in the UK. Many are opposed to these schemes, including the trades unions in the higher education sector. Pay related to performance is being used to motivate existing employees, attract new ones and retain those in post. It is also used as part of the company's philosophy, to explain to potential and present employees the dynamics of its organisation. Although the principle is often supported by employees, the implementation and amount of money available may be disappointing in the long term.
